Eight men arrested in Rotherham child sex abuse investigation

Operation Stovewood, 23 men arrested, 8 of them have been charged.

Eight men have been arrested in connection with an investigation into historical child sexual exploitation and abuse in Rotherham.

The men, aged 32, 35, 36 and 37, from Sheffield and Rotherham, were held as part of the National Crime Agency's (NCA) Operation Stovewood inquiry.

The offences, which include rape and indecent assault, are alleged to have been committed against five girls under 16 between 1998 and 2003.

All eight men have been released.

Operation Stovewood is investigating non-familial sexual abuse in Rotherham between 1997 and 2013.

In total, 23 men have been arrested and eight have been charged with 42 offences so far.
